Elderly pedestrian struck outside McMaster dies

Hamilton Police say one of two pedestrians struck outside McMaster University on Friday has died.

Two men were crossing University Ave. inside the crosswalk when they were hit by a car around 7:30 a.m.

A 72-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken off from life support on Sunday and died after donating his organs.

A 58-year-old who was also struck had minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene Friday and is cooperating with police.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors but police are considering environmental conditions.
