Elderly pedestrian struck and killed in St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police are investigating the death of an elderly pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in St. Catharines Friday night.
Emergency crews were called to Geneva St. near Millward Ave. just before 10 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian collision.
Investigators say a 79-year-old woman was crossing Geneva St. when she was hit by a Chevrolet Equinox travelling northbound.
The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A 32-year-old St.Catharines man was behind the wheel of the Equinox.
He was not hurt in the collision.
The Coroner’s Office and the collision reconstruction unit are still investigating this crash.
