Ethics committee to debate new motion to examine WE Charity scandal

The House of Commons ethics committee will continue a third attempt at examining conflicts of interest in the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two tries to investigate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s relationship with WE Charity have failed.
The first motion aiming to examine WE Charity speaking contracts involving Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, failed last week.
A second motion failed yesterday and this third motion was put forward.
The motion from New Democrat MP Charlie Angus looks to study possible conflicts of interest and lobbying violations in relation to pandemic spending.
This would focus on the deal with WE Charity to manage the multimillion-dollar student grant program.
