(Update)
For more than 20 years a local family has been living with unbearable grief. Their parents Donna and Arnold Edwards were murdered in their home near Binbrook. Tonight, two of their daughters took part in a special dedication to the Edwards at a park close to the families heart.

Jessie Smith lost both her parents in brutal murder more than 20 years ago. Tonight she came home to Edwards Memorial Park, named in honour of her parents to throw out the first pitch in the Binbrook Bisons home opener.

The game is dedicated to her parents who put their heart and soul into the community including this park.

The Binbrook Bisons took to the field against their rivals the Burlington Bulls. It’s exactly the type of thing Jessie says her parents would have been a part of.

It’s something Donna Dixon knows a lot about too. Her son was murdered in 2006.

Jessie has also found someone to lean on through the ‘lean on me’ group.

The Bisons lost the game but won everyone’s hearts donating $300 to the ‘lean on me’ charity from the sale of Bisons spirit wear.

That’s something the Edwards would surely be proud of.
