Ontario’s education minister is set to hold a news conference on Wednesday about the return to in-person learning.

Stephen Lecce is scheduled to speak to the media at 1:30 p.m. alongside Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

On Tuesday, Premier Doug Ford’s office confirmed to CHCH News that students and teachers would be returning to classrooms across the province on Monday after a two-week period of remote learning due to COVID-19.

Schools were set to return on Jan. 3 following the winter break but the government initially delayed the return to Jan. 5 to provide additional time for N95 masks to be handed out to staff and 3,000 more HEPA filter units to be installed in schools.

Ford then revealed the province would be moving back into a modified Step Two of its reopening plan and students would move to remote learning until at least Jan. 17.

We will be live streaming the news conference on our website and YouTube channel.
