Ecuador ‘at war’ with drug gangs, state of emergency declared

Trending internationally today – Ecuador’s president says his country is at war.

Before we tell you more, the video in this story is disturbing. The latest developments come after more than 130 prison guards and other staff were taken hostage by drug gangs.

The gangs also launching a daring attack on a television station during a live broadcast, unleashing at least 15 minutes of threats, and waving guns and explosives.

Much of Ecuador on edge following Tuesday’s attack – city streets were deserted after Ecuador’s president declared a 60-day state of emergency.
