Ebola ruled out in Brampton patient

A person in Brampton who was isolated as a possible ebola case has been tested, and does not have the virus.

Ontario minister of health Eric Hoskins released a statement today.

There were concerns because the person had travelled to Nigeria and was showing flu-like symptoms.

The director of infection control at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital, Allison McGeer, says it’s probably not the last time a patient will be tested for ebola. McGeer says although the amount of travelling between West Africa and Canada is limited, influenza is very common and these kinds of precautionary measures may need to be taken.
