“Earth Art” returns to Royal Botanical Gardens

(Update)
A popular art exhibition is has returned to the Royal Botanical Gardens for the summer.
“Earth Art” brings people, plants and nature together. Nine artists from Canada and beyond arrived at the RBG two weeks ago and created installations from natural materials found only on the grounds.
The goal is to inspire ideas and conversation surrounding sustainability when it comes to environment. RBG CEO Mark Runciman explains why the gardens is such a good fit for the project.
“Things that are woven, you’ll see steel elements. There’s one at our Aldershot escarpment waterfall area that’s a metal structure of a moose jumping off a cliff which is kind of intriguing.
“Then there’s man-made bird’s nests and amongst other structures that are in ponds.”
Artist Alfio Bonanno conceived “Organic Refuge.” “We need to show this kind of expression, I think the Botanical Garden is a great place for it because we’ve got all the plants, all this life around here, birds and there’s a lot of insects.”
“This place has got a lot of snakes and water snakes and I don’t know what. It’s just fantastic for this type of work.”
The exhibition runs until October 13th. The RBG is open from 10 am to 8 pm daily.
