Early morning house fire in Winona

Hamilton firefighters are still at the scene of a house blaze on Highway 8 in Winona. They were called to the two-story home around 5:30 Friday morning.  In all, twelve units were sent to the scene. According to witnesses, smoke was coming from the ground floor of the home after the sound of a “loud pop” and a “burning rubber” smell. Power was out for a time and Highway 8 was closed in both directions.  No cause of the blaze or damage estimate has yet been revealed.
