Dudley George’s brother seriously hurt by fire

The brother of a First Nations protester shot dead by police 20 years ago has been injured while protesting a new agreement with Ottawa that will return some lands near Sarnia.
Witnesses say Pierre George accidentally set himself ablaze while pouring gasoline on a fire that had been set by band members who oppose the deal. Police say he suffered serious burns.
His brother Dudley George was shot dead by police when a splinter group of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation occupied nearby Ipperwash Provincial Park in 1995, claiming it contained a sacred burial ground.
The Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation approved the new $90-million deal with the federal government in a vote held Friday.
The compensation package includes the return of land appropriated by the federal government in 1942 under the War Measures Act.
