Duchess of Edinburgh attends service of remembrance in St. Catharines

Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, attended a service of remembrance being held in St. Catharines on Sunday.

The service, which was followed by a special performance by the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Association Band, was also attended by Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor.

The Duchess made her way to Niagara to attend the Duchess of Edinburgh competition hosted by the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in St. Catharines.

The annual competition being held on Saturday has military groups come together to compete in a series of mental and physical military challenges.

The Duchess, who serves as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment presented the The Countess of Wessex Cup to the winning team.

Following her visit to Niagara, the Duchess is set to spend three days visiting sites at the University Health Network in Toronto.

The Duchess is married to Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh and the youngest sibling of King Charles III.
