Drunk driving sentence

The drunk driver in the deadly Stoney Creek crash last fall was sentenced to four years behind bars today. 26-year-old David Megna pleaded guilty to all charges in the crash that killed his 22-year-old friend, Tyler Torres.
The Hamilton man had three times the legal limit in his system when he crashed his BMW into an oncoming minivan last year, seriously injuring himself and the other driver. Tyler Torres, who was in Megna’s passenger seat, died in the crash.
As Tyler Torres family members read their victim impact statements, David Megna sat there sobbing quietly as he listen to how each of their lives have changed since he decided to get behind the wheel drunk. Members of the Torres family feel like the Megna is getting off easy.
“I feel like once again the judicial system failed the victim. Send the message that no more is it acceptable to be drunk and drive. It’s like they have a loaded gun in their hand and killing innocent people and kids.”
On top of Megna’s four year prison sentence he will also be banned from driving for another four years once he gets released.
