Project Bluenose, a huge drug trafficking raid centered in St Catharines, resulted in 12 arrests this morning.
More than 100 officers made the arrests in St Catharines, Mississauga and Toronto. All of the accused are facing drug trafficking charges.
Staff Sgt Shawn Clarkson told CHCH News Niagara Police had been investigating a large drug trafficking ring based in St Catharines since January.
“This group probably filled the void when project resurgence was taken down in St. Catharines in 2013. We started hearing about that fairly early on and we started this investigation and today is a result of that.”
“Project Resurgence was a drug investigation into members of the Outlaws and Black Pistons motorcycle club in 2013 and that was taken down in November of that year.”
More charges and arrests are expected to be made following this morning’s bust.
CHCH’s Lauran Sabourin is following this story and will have more tonight on the Evening News at 6.
