Drug busts at Burlington high schools

Halton police say they’ve seized drugs from many Catholic and Public high schools in Burlington including, cocaine and oxycontin. Police say the drug, gun and gang unit was involved in the investigation which resulted in 27 arrests and multiple charges. 22 of the 27 arrested were under the age of 18.

Beyond the discovery of cocaine and oxycontin, police say they also found marijuana and clonazepam. Clonazepam is a prescription drug used to treat anxiety, panic and seizure disorders. The drug is said to be addictive. Police say the combined estimated street value of the drugs seized was more than $6,000.

Five adults have been charged in this investigation. They include 47-year old Travis Arseneault of Burlington. He’s been charged with trafficking, possession and breach of probation.
18-year old John Arseneault, also of Burlington, has been charged with possession. And 18-year old Ryan Blainey of Burlington is charged with possession and possession for purpose. Police say parents need to be aware that there are drugs in all high schools.
