Driver faces charges after crashing into a ditch

Halton police arrested and charged a 34-year-old Mississauga man with criminal and traffic-related offenses after he fled from the scene of a single vehicle collision in Burlington.

Police say the man was driving on Walkers Line Tuesday evening when he lost control at the intersection of Britannia Rd. and crashed into a ditch.

Witnesses told police the driver got out of the car and ran to a nearby rural area to hide.

After a search of the area, police located the man and arrested him.

He is charged with dangerous driving, driving under suspension, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

The vehicle was severely damaged and towed away.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was released on a promise to appear.
