Downtown Hamilton house fire

Heavy smoke filled a portion of Hamilton’s downtown core Friday afternoon. The second house fire in the area in just two days and like the fire on Catherine street north, the fire ripped through the second and third floors of this house.

It happened just before 2 pm on Park street north. The fire department arrived shortly after and got two people out safetly. One man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but is expected to survive. Sadly two dogs were killed in the fire.

The fire department says the second and third floors of the house sustained the most damage. The blaze caused an estimated $300,000 dollars damage, but it’s not known yet how the fire started.
