Doug Ford cabinet minister resigns to join Pierre Poilievre’s team

A cabinet member in Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative government has resigned to seek a federal seat with Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative party.
Red Tape Reduction Minister Parm Gill says he has been urged by community members in his Milton riding west of Toronto to join Poilievre.
The former federal lawmaker says he is motivated to take down Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the next election.

Ford’s office says Gill was a valued member of his cabinet and caucus and they wish him well in his federal bid.
Ford has lost a few cabinet members in recent months, including former housing minister Steve Clark and former public and business service delivery minister Kaleed Rasheed.
Both resigned in the wake of the Greenbelt scandal.
