Dolphin Tale 2

Dolphin Tale 2 is a drama film directed by Charles Martin Smith (Air Bud) and is the sequel to 2011’s Dolphin Tale. This sequel returns to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium where Winter, the young dolphin fitted with a groundbreaking prosthetic tail, resides. There, the aquarium staff mourns the passing of Winter’s surrogate mother Panama, but it hits Winter the hardest, leaving her alone and grieving. The bad news keeps coming when the USDA informs the staff that they must find another dolphin to live with Winter, as regulations require dolphins to be paired. If they can’t find another dolphin that Winter accepts, they will have to let her go. The film stars Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Kris Kristofferson, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, and Morgan Freeman.
Dolphin Tale was a surprise success when it was released in 2011. Smith, who directed the first film as well, thinks there were a lot of factors that made the film appealing to audiences. “The idea that a dolphin could have so desperate an injury and lose her tail, and that a team of strangers would rally around her to save her with a first- of-its-kind prosthetic, was so improbable and yet it’s true. And Winter’s own spirit moved people so deeply. So many have come up to me and said how affected they were by the film. I thought we would touch people with ‘Dolphin Tale’; I didn’t realize how much. It has been truly gratifying.”
Dolphin Tale 2 is rated G.
