Dog shot after biting child

A Hamilton Police officer has shot and wounded a dog after it bit an 8-year old boy.

Police and Animal Control weren’t able to control the dog after responding to a home on Queen Street near Barton yesterday.

When it lunged at the officer, he fired. The dog was taken to a vet for treatment, and the child was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Charges may be laid against the dog’s owner.
