Dog grooming rules during the pandemic

UPDATE:  Ontario’s Stay At Home Order (January 14th) states people can leave their homes to obtain “goods or services that are necessary for the health and safety of an animal, including obtaining veterinary services”.

The province’s list of businesses allowed to stay open (updated January15th) includes: “Veterinary services… and other businesses that provide for the health and welfare of animals, including farms, boarding kennels, stables, animal shelters and research facilities”.  Groomers, which had been included in the list as of January 13th, are no longer specifically named.

Despite being allowed to operate during the first provincial lockdown, dog groomers in Ontario were closed in a last-minute change to the current shutdown rules. The wording in the guidelines isn’t clear, and it’s left groomers throughout the province extremely confused. Adam Atkinson reports.
