The dog who attacked a Hamilton man last month was euthanized on Monday.
Matthew Brigmantas of Hamilton died on July 9th on Burton Street, where neighbours say they saw the sharpe fila attack him on the ground. The coroner’s office has said there is no evidence that indicates the dog was the direct cause of death. They are still waiting on toxicology results.
Officials say their decision came after the dog showed signs of aggressive behaviour, and had a history of several bites and attacks. After various tests were done, the city decided the dog was unadoptable and posed a serious danger to the community.
