Disgraced Hamilton cop probed over sexual assualt allegation

The Special Investigations Unit has confirmed it has opened a criminal sexual assault investigation into a disgraced Hamilton Police officer.
Sergeant Derek Mellor led the Hamilton Police Service’s first human trafficking unit until he was suspended in December 2012, amid allegations from women connected to his work. Last February Mellor pleaded guilty to nine Police Services Act charges admitting to inappropriate sexual relationships with women he was investigating.
The SIU says their investigation involves one alleged victim.
Mellor’s disciplinary hearing is scheduled to resume September 29th for one day. Hearing dates have also been set for the week of November 3rd.
