Disabled man reunited with bike

(video updated) A young Hamilton man with cerebral palsy is riding in style again. He’s been reunited with his bicycle after it was stolen from his yard.

Justin Connors is grateful to have his wheels back, especially since he felt like he had his legs stolen. He depends on his bike to get around.

Connors, 20, saved up his money to buy the $500 Schwinn Meridian tricycle to get around just three months ago. Sunday, someone stole the bike from his back yard. Word of the theft got around via the media and Facebook, and when someone dropped it off to Mr Used on Barton Street, the owner recognized it, purchased it then contacted Hamilton Police.

Today police returned the bike to Justin, who feels grateful. “If I don’t get exercise, my legs will stiffen up and I won’t be able to walk.”

Mike Lacombe of Hamilton Police compares the bike theft to that of a wheelchair. “He depends on this bike every day to get around, to get groceries. Without that, he’s stranded at home, and that’s not right.”

Hamilton Police have made no arrests in the case, but are looking at several persons of interest.
