73 years ago, thousands of brave Canadian and allied soldiers stormed the beach at Dieppe France during World War Two.

Those soldiers were remembered at a ceremony in Hamilton Wednesday.

Jack McFarland, Fred Englebrecht, and Ken Curry are the last surviving members of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, who stormed the beach at Dieppe.

Nearly 600 Hamilton area soldiers took part in the raid, 197 were killed, and many more were captured.

Ken Curry lied about his age to enlist but he got caught, and needed a note from his mother in order to take part in the action.

The raid 73 years ago Wednesday, involved more than 6000 allied soldiers, most of them Canadian.
