Developer charged with DUI

A prominent home builder in the Hamilton and Halton area is facing drunk driving charges after allegedly leading police on a chase that ended with an officer being dragged for a short distance.

44-year-old Gabriel De Santis is being accused of driving erratically and leading police cars on a chase.

When the vehicle finally stopped, an officer tried to turn off the engine, and was pulled along the road.

De Santis is president of his own home building company and used to be president of the Hamilton-Halton Home Builder’s Association.

This is not his first dispute with authorities.

He has previously faced assault charges.

De Santis will appear in court in February.
