Defensive driving refresher course for Hamilton’s taxi drivers

A defensive driving refresher course for Hamilton’s 1200 taxi drivers started today.

It’s a class all drivers were told they had to take ahead of this summer’s Pan Am games and pay for it out of their own pockets.

The class was supposed to cost drivers $125 dollars and focus both on defensive driving and prep for the Pan Am games but after meeting with the taxi union last week and hearing the complaints from cab drivers the city decided to just focus the class on defensive driving and have a separate and voluntary class to educate drivers on Pan Am.

The defensive driving class is still mandatory and will cost cab drivers $100
