An Ancaster man is dead and his son is recovering from injuries after an apparent home invasion in Ancaster.
Two killers could be on the loose, but police haven’t issued any kind of suspect description.
They were at the scene since Monday night but had to wait much of Tuesday morning for a search warrant before they could go inside and look for evidence.
Police were called to an Ancaster home before 11 pm Monday for a home invasion, and found a man with no vital signs who could not be revived.
Neighbours say the victim is Carmen “Bud” Ward, who lived in the house for many years with his two adult sons, Joshua and Brandon.
Police say an autopsy tomorrow will determine how Ward died, but neighbours believe he was shot, and his son Joshua was hit in the head with a cleaver. The boys’ mother appeared at the scene and looked upset, but indicated her son would recover.
Police taped off a huge portion of the neighbourhood, and their search included the roof of a closed-down school across the street. They say this was not a random attack; the victim was targeted.
Police are looking for anyone who might have surveillance footage of the area.
Police are looking for 2 male suspects, wearing dark clothing with their faces covreed. One may have sustained a facial injury.
