Dashti murder trial

The husband of a murdered Hamilton woman is expected to be the first witness Toronto morning in the trial of the man accused in her death.

On May 25, 2010, Elham Dashti was found in the basement of her store, face down in a pool of blood. Her headscarf was tied so tightly around her neck, it had to be cut off. Her face had been beaten until both her upper and lower jaw bones were broken.
Patrick Smith was caught on security cameras outside the store and was charged with the death. He’s admitted to killing the 31 year old and has sent a letter of apology to her family.
Smith has pled not guilty to first degree murder, but he says he is guilty of manslaughter.
