He’s got a few years before he has a shot at the NHL, but Hamilton native Darnell Nurse is off to a great start.

The 16 year old student from St Thomas More was chosen third overall by the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in the OHL draft last month. And as Natalie Marconi tells us, he’s inherited a winning attitude with the skills to match.

Darnell racked up 11 goals and 18 assists last season. His father Richard played for the Ticats from 1990-95, and was a two-time winner of the Charlotte Simmons Humanitarian Award for his work in the community. Mom Cathy was on a McMaster basketball team that won a bronze at the nationals in 1990.
