A judge has ruled that a man who took a child from a Hamilton school last October is not criminally responsible for his actions.

The judge says he made his decision after analyzing professional opinions. Last week, a psychiatrist testified that Dakota Hart suffered from an extreme state of psychosis, and was likely unaware he was abducting a child.

Last October, a boy was taken from the playground of Earl Kitchener Elementary School. He quickly got away and ran for help.

Hart will now appear in front of a review board that will decide whether or not he’s a threat to the public.
