(Updated) The cyclist killed on Hamilton’s Claremont Access late yesterday has been identified.

Jay Keddy, 53, was a kindergarten teacher at Prince of Wales School on Melrose Ave. The crash happened just after 5:30 yesterday afternoon in the up-bound lanes below the Arkledun Ave overpass. Witnesses and emergency responders attempted to revive him, but failed.

Police have seized a black pick-up truck wanted in the crash. They found the truck at an address on the west mountain. A 55 year-old man was taken into custody, but was later released.

There are no charges at this time as the investigation continues. A memorial was held at Main and Wellington today in Keddy’s honour. Cyclists set up a ‘ghost bike’ near the spot where Keddy was killed.
