Cyclist killed by hit & run driver

The driving rain and winds may have played a role in the death of a cyclist in niagara-on-the-lake late Monday afternoon.

The cyclist was riding on Taylor Road just west of the White Oaks Resort, when he was hit by a tan coloured SUV, probably a GMC Jimmy, which then sped off.

The collision happened in front of Leon’s Furniture Store.

Police say that the vehicle will have damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle, missing it’s mirror on the passenger’s door, missing it’s antenna and possibly damage to the windshield.

Anyone who may have seen this vehicle is asked to contact police immediately.

The identity of the cyclist is not being released.

The road is closed between Homer and Glendale and will stay closed for some time.
