Cyber attack affects phones, website at Toronto’s SickKids Hospital

A cyber attack at Toronto’s hospital for sick children is affecting several networks, but SickKids insists there is no reason for concern when it comes to patient care.
The hospital is currently under a code-grey system failure where all phone lines are down and many of the hospital’s web pages are affected.
The code went into effect at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night.
SickKids says the incident appears to have only impacted a few internal clinical and corporate systems, as well as hospital phone lines and webpages.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of patients and families as clinical teams transition to downtime procedures in order to ensure that patient care remains unaffected,” SickKids said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our patients and their families is our top priority.”

SickKids says it has notified government and healthcare partners and is using expert third parties to resolve the incident.
The hospital insists that all patient care is continuing and that there is currently no evidence to suggest that personal or personal health information has been impacted.
Anyone concerned with the continual disruption of some procedures are encouraged to check SickKids’ Twitter for updates.
