Crews battle house fire in Welland

Crews were called to a house fire on Niagara St. in Welland around 4:30 a.m Tuesday morning.
Deputy Fire Chief Adam Eckhart says it took more than 30 firefighters to battle the “deep seated fire.”
Neighbours called 9-1-1 after hearing the smoke alarms going off inside the empty house. Eckhart says the homeowners are currently on vacation.
No one was injured in the fire and crews remain on scene to control hotspots.
Niagara St. between Elmview St. and Pine St. will likely be closed for several hours.
