On highway 403 in Hamilton, a crash involving several vehicles shut down eastbound lanes just past Aberdeen and at least one person was taken to hospital. It had a big impact on the commute home.

Traffic having to come off the 403 at Aberdeen clogged traffic in downtown Hamilton.

Graham Williamson, OPP: “Just about 4:30, we received a report of a crash on the eastbound lanes of the 403. Three vehicles were involved. First, a small Volkswagen Golf. It appeared to have left one lane and gone into the guardrail. It then bounced out and struck two more vehicles, one being a tractor trailer and the other being a lawn maintenance type of truck.  We have one injury — to the woman driver of the Golf. It’s life threatening injuries so collision reconstruction has to do an investigation and the eastbound lanes are closed at Aberdeen for the investigation. But congested traffic is also exiting at the Linc and other exits west. Even westbound traffic is being tied up because of the visual distraction.”

The eastbound lanes were reopened at about 9pm.
