Crash shuts down Red Hill parkway

A section of the Red Hill Valley Parkway in East Hamilton will be closed for most of Thursday because of a crash.

Police say a “Weed Man” truck lost control on the Barton Street on-ramp, hit the median and spun around before it was hit by a transport truck.

A container of liquid fertilizer fell off the truck. The crash also caused a fuel spill on the highway.
The ministry of environment and hazmat crews are on scene making sure the chemicals don’t leak into Red Hill Creek.
The driver of the truck has been taken to hospital with minor injures; the transport driver wasn’t hurt.
Police say the parkway will be closed until at least three this afternoon.
