A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer carrying wine prompted the closure of Highway 401, between Highway 6 and Guelph Line, overnight.

OPP were called to the westbound lanes of the highway, near Highway 6 south, around 10 p.m. Thursday.

The collision involved an SUV, a pickup truck and the tractor-trailer.

OPP say the SUV was blocking a live lane of traffic in the westbound lanes and was struck by a pickup truck.

The pickup truck cut off the transport truck, which hit the centre median and rolled over on its side.

An OPP cruiser was also struck in the crash.

The crash required extensive cleanup and required the closure of both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

The westbound lanes reopened around 7 a.m.

Police the the driver of the SUV refused to provide a breath sample and has been charged with impaired driving.
