CRA, union reach tentative agreement, ending strike of 35,000 workers

The public-sector representing Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) workers have reached a tentative contract agreement with the federal government, ending a strike of 35,000 employees.
The announcement comes after the government reached a separate deal with 120,000 other public servant’s represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
CRA workers represented by PSAC’s Union of Taxation Employees continued to strike two days after the federal tax-filing deadline.

The union is now telling its members to return to work Thursday by 11:30 a.m. at the latest.
The tentative deal includes a wage increase of 12.6 per cent over four years as well as a pensionable $2,500 one-time lump sum payment that represents an additional 3.6 per cent of salary for the average member.
Before the deal was reached, the union had threatened to send its members to disrupt a Liberal party convention in Ottawa.
