The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is returning to the rails at Hamilton’s Gage Park Wednesday for a night of holiday fun in support of local food banks.

The holiday classic is set to include dazzling lights, festive decorations and musicians as the train hits the tracks at 42 Lawrence Road at 7:45 p.m.

Headlining the night’s musical performances are Australian country duo Seaforth and Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza to bring a mix of traditional and modern holiday songs for the free, family friendly concert that will feature an appearance from Santa himself.

CPKC has partnered with Hamilton Food Share, requesting that attendees bring monetary donations and healthy, non-perishable food donations to the event.

All donations will be distributed to assist 23 emergency food programs across Hamilton.

With over 33.500 visits to Hamilton food banks annually, the donations collected are set to assist in supporting over 13,000 families through the upcoming holiday season.

Prior to the train’s arrival will be a chance to visit with Santa and other beloved Christmas characters, Hamilton sports team mascots and music from 102.9 Bounce.

To accommodate the event, a portion of Gage Avenue South and Lawrence Road from Cumberland Avenue to Roslyn Avenue South will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to around 10 p.m.

During this closure, emergency service vehicles and DARTS accessible transit will be allowed access to the roadways while all other vehicles will be detoured.

The annual Holiday Train program is a rolling fundraiser that travels across Canada and the United States that aims to raise money, food and awareness for local food banks.
