A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at an inpatient unit at Joseph Brant Hospital.

The hospital says three health care workers and one patient on 7 South 100 have tested positive for the virus.

It says infection and prevention control is working with Halton Public Health to monitor patients, staff and physicians who had direct contact with those infected.

All those exposed are being contacted and tested.

The health care workers are currently at home in isolation.

The hospital says it has completed enhanced deep cleaning on the unit and is actively monitoring patients for any new symptoms.

The 7S100 unit is closed to visitors with “very limited exceptions.”

Halton Public Health reported 39 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 16 of which were in Burlington.
