Hamilton Public Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at another long-term care home in the city.

Officials say there are nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Arbour Creek Care Home at 2717 King St. E.

The cases include seven patients and two staff members in the Hawthorne Unit.

According to the city of Hamilton’s website, the outbreak was declared on July 16.

It is now the second long-term care home in the city currently in an outbreak.

On July 9, Hamilton public health confirmed an outbreak at St. Joseph’s Villa on Governors Rd. in Dundas.

Initially, four staff members in the hair salon tested positive for the virus but that number has since grown to six staff members, five residents, and one visitor.

A COVID-19 outbreak may be declared by Hamilton Public Health Services when two or more confirmed cases can be linked to the workplace within a 14-day period and it is likely that the infection was spread in the workplace.
