COVID-19 confirmed at Hamilton long term care facility

Hamilton Public Health is confirming a case of COVID-19 at a long-term care facility in Stoney Creek.
An 80-year-old woman was brought to St. Joseph’s Healthcare for a scheduled treatment.
She was moved into isolation after displaying symptoms of the virus.
Public health officials say seven hospital staff are now in self-isolation. They say no patients were put at risk.
“We have carefully reviewed and identified the patient’s interactions and we are confident we have contained all potential exposure,” said Dr. David Russell, Chief of Staff, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
The woman is a resident of Heritage Green Nursing Home in Stoney Creek.
The facility says it has isolated the entire floor of the nursing home.
It already increased its cleaning protocols and closed to visitors last weekend.
The 80-year-old woman remains in isolation in hospital.
