Couple rescued from Devil’s Punch Bowl

A young couple who decided to go for a hike after catching a movie last night have been rescued from Hamilton’s Devil’s Punch Bowl.

While the pair apparently hiked down the trail at the conservation area, they decided to take a shortcut on the way up and ended up getting stuck about 3 a.m.

Fortunately, they had a cellphone with them and were able to call for help.

Hamilton firefighters conducted a rope rescue, bringing them up about an hour later.  Neither person was hurt.
