Costco is under investigation by Ontario’s Ministry of Health for its compliance with provincial legislation on selling pharmaceutical and over-the-counter drugs.

A spokesperson for the bulk goods retailer said they are confident that protocol has been followed. Costco also said they are cooperating with the investigation.

The Ontario College of Pharmacists announced it would hold two hearings for two Costco pharmacy directors after claims that the directors accepted kickbacks for stocking certain brands.

Prioritizing some brands over others for personal gain is banned under the Ontario Drug Benefit Act.
