Cory Monteith’s autopsy finds heroin and alcohol

A BC coroner says Cory Monteith had a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol in his system when he died last weekend.

His body was found Saturday in a Vancouver hotel. In April, Monteith checked into rehab. He’d been open about his struggles with substance abuse, admitting he began using drugs at 13, and by 19 went into rehab for the first time after his mother and friends intervened.

The coroner, Barbara McLintock, says, “No evidence suggests that this is anything other than the most sad and tragic accident. The coroner’s service won’t be making any further comments on this issue until their investigation is finally concluded.”

There are plans to hold a candlelight vigil for Cory Monteith in Vancouver on Friday night.
