Cortese arrested
A Milton man wanted by Halton and Niagara police is behind bars in Quebec.
Nicola Cortese is facing several charges, including theft, use of fraudulent credit card and possession of a forged Italian passport and fake Ontario drivers license.
He was arrested in November when he tried to shoplift a handgun holster, an ammunition pouch, a black balaclava and a rubber car part — which police say could double as a silencer — from a Canadian Tire store in Quebec.
Police say Cortese has been questioned about the murder of Nic Rizutto, of the Rizutto crime family in Montreal.
Cortese was arrested two days after the killing.
He’s been wanted in Southern Ontario since 2008 when Niagara police busted a 15 million dollar marijuana grow op.
He is also on the Halton police most wanted list for a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud.
