The Ontario coroner’s office has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of a man, shot by a Hamilton police officer during a stolen vehicle investigation.

Phonesay Chanthachak

Phonesay Chanthachak, 27, was killed while driving his van in the Quigley and Albright area in February 2012. He hadn’t shown up for his court date that morning on robbery charges, and a warrant had been issued.

This could mean Hamilton constable Ryan Tocher will be called into question again. He was cleared by the Ontario SIU of the death last year.

The inquest is expected to last 10 days and will hear from around 15 witnesses. It will start on June 3rd in Hamilton.
