Cop acquitted on G20 assault charge

The first Toronto police officer to be tried on criminal charges stemming from the G20 protests has been found not guilty.

Constable Glenn Weddell faced several charges after Dorian Barton’s shoulder was broken on June 26, 2010. During the trial, Weddell testified that he didn’t know how Barton got on the ground the first time.

He says the only time he touched him was to help him up — and says he wasn’t the officer who shoved him.
