Controversial pipeline offers jobs
The controversial Keystone pipeline could create as many as 20,000 jobs.
So now 37 U.S. Senators, including Nebraska’s, are introducing a bill that would force the Obama administration to approve the pipeline within 60 days; that is, unless the President declares the project is not in the national interest.
The $7 billion pipeline was delayed earlier in November when officials began considering a plan to re-route it away from environmentally sensitive areas of Nebraska.
The bill has little chance of approval in the democratic-controlled senate, but the measure illustrates Republicans’ frustration over the project delay and their belief that Obama is vulnerable on the issue.
