Continued work and delays on the Hamilton 403 after landslide

City crews will start stabilizing and fixing the slope along the 403 in Hamilton Monday morning after a mudslide on Friday closed the highway and caused traffic chaos for drivers.

40 metres of concrete barriers now separate the slope from the highway.

Engineers from the city and the Ministry of Transportation have been coming up with a permanent fix.

A watermain break caused trees, mud and water to spill onto the highway just below York Boulevard.

It will take at least a week to fix the slope and the broken water main.

Crews are hoping the weather will co-operate.

The Hamilton bound lanes on York Boulevard will remain closed as well as the York Boulevard ramp off the highway until further notice.
